The Online Essay for middle school applicants (applying to 5th-8th) is comprised of two sections. The first section is a 30-minute writing sample and the second is a 15-minute analytical thinking exercise. Students will type their response to a single essay prompt, and then type their response to an analytical thinking question.

Students will receive instructions from a live proctor via Zoom and be monitored for the duration of the online essay session. Please plan for the session to take 1 hour.
